As featured on episode 126 of the Mythos Busters podcast!

This deck is all about leveraging the power of Underworld Support combined with some of the powerful exceptional assets available in Rogue. Here are the key features:

  • This is a "big money" Smaug build that leverages a big pile of resources to power stat boosts via The Black Fan, Hard Knocks, Arcane Studies, High Roller, Well Connected, and Money Talks.

  • Geas further continues the stat boost theme, and because this deck relies on stat boosts funded by money, you can usually safely promise not to commit cards.

  • The key combo of this deck is Eldritch Sophist + The Red Clock. With this combo in play, you can pull a charge off The Red Clock with the Sophist each turn in order to stay at the level of charges you want. Generally, I'll stay at the highest level in order to get the extra actions. With the Clock and Fan at full power, you can be taking 6 actions each turn with each stat boosted by +1, +2, or more. It's pretty filthy!

  • The charge from Red Clock can be moved to an asset without charges using the Sophist, but if you have Obfuscation in play, you can move the charge there instead. This will allow you to have a continually refilled Obfuscation, giving you even more flexibility with all those actions.

Enjoy!!

I have played opposite of this deck. It is insane!

@Saej opposite? what do you mean?

Mar 25, 2022 captainsqually · 398

He played at the same table as Ian piloting it.

Cool deck, it must be really fun!

You seem to test really high on every test with it, but how about action compression?

Also why so many weapons? Wasn't it better to maybe put a Prepared for the Worst instead of Spectral Razor and skip .25 Automatic and .41 Derringer? I guess the situation you're aiming at is to have Jenny's Twin .45s with one in the Bandolier, Lockpicks, and Dr. Elli Horowitz holding The Black Fan. But it requires a lot of cards and with Underworld Support, you have high chances that at least one is hiding at the bottom of your deck, and there is no other copy...

Also what's the plan with Eldritch Sophist? To use the charges from Obfuscation and transfer them to the The Red Clock, but is that a good enough to take 2 card slots?

There's a lot of synergies here, I'm looking forward to understand them better!

you need the weapons I just played midnight mask and got 4 cultist. (Standard true solo) I think for solo maybe dropping geas and some other card to add 2 manual dexterities. maybe..

@isuscbrmid The deck runs Underworld Support so you can't take 2 Manual Dex

Mar 25, 2022 isuscbrmid · 38

my bad, I just reviewed my mod deck and I took 1 manual dex and 1 perception to help me to pass those test and continue drawing

@Valentin1331 Good questions! I tend to run a few different weapons to make sure I have a variety of options and don't get stuck without one, especially with only 1 copy of each being available.

The Eldritch Sophist/Red Clock combo is pretty much the heart of the deck. First, you get Red Clock up to 3 charges. Then, each turn you use the Sophist to remove a charge from the Red Clock so that you stay at 3 charges for as long as you want, giving you pretty much a permanent extra 2 actions for the rest of the game once the combo is up and running.

Cool I see! And Obfuscation is perfect for this as it is fast and doesn’t burn a splash slot.

It could have been cool to add Torrent of Power to use these charges but it doesn’t work with the Geas.

One thing though, many actions is great but the Lockpicks only work once. Once you have 6-7 actions, can you reliably boost enough skill tests?

Super cool deck, though!!

@Valentin1331 With the entire combo suite out, she's sitting at a natural 6 INT so I don't think she's sweating the single use on Lockpicks per turn. Arcane Studies, High Roller and Well Connected can further help obliterate any Investigate test.

In stand alone, with In the Thick of It, you could sit at 32xp and only take 2 extra weaknesses. So I would maybe knock Leo De Luca back down to level 0 in order to achieve that. As it stands you have to take 3 extra weakness.

Mar 25, 2022 MythosBusters · 2533

@captainsqually Oops, yeah, that's supposed to be level 0 Leo!

I think Unscrupulous Loan would fit in here really well. Especially in standalone where that card has no downside. Maybe drop down to The Red Clock(2), add Unscrupulous Loan, add a second Charisma and take out Investments. Because, let's face it, why wait for money when you can get it right away?

Nice deck! :)

I played something very similar, just with Forced Learning instead of Underworld Contract (you could even play both). Those exceptional relics are sooo good!

Also thought about using the Eldritch Sophist, but I found that The Red Clock is amazing enough without any shenanigans (and I would rather have stat boosts from my allies instead). And even the first level is pretty useful sometimes. The second is great, too, if you time it right; depends on the scenario, of course.

The one card that I am missing here (it does require Relic Hunter, though) is Lucky Cigarette Case, which can be insane with Jenny when she gets the Elder Sign.

Suggestion is also great with her, and Pilfer, of course.

How well does this Jenny manage without any skill cards at all?

Mar 27, 2022 Thanee · 64

She is using Hard Knocks and Arcane Studies, High Roller, and permanent stat boosts, like Geas, or The Black Fan. And there is Well Connected. Plenty options. No need for skills.

Whats the upgrade path here? Go straight for the Red Clock? So take In the Thick of it and save the Xp until you can get the Red Clock?

Great deck! Looks super fun.

@Mcpunchababy sadly you can't have a second Charisma due to Underworld Support

Maybe I change the lockpick for the upgraded pilfer, this way can economy actions: gain 3 clues in one action and return the card to your hand. Then with the extra actions can move to another strategic place to investigate or help another investigator.

If there is a lvl 0 version of this deck I would love to see it.
