This is a deck I am going to use for the Hemlock Feast campaign, with 2 other players. My rule is to get clues, clues and more clues !
So I would like to play with the discard pile with the survivor cards : A Glimmer of Hope, Fortuitous Discovery , Winging It and Improvised Weapon. George was a perfect choice for this kind of deck.
So to start : Short Supply, of course ! Ideal to start with a discard pile with the cards I mention before. Also Resourceful is also ready to grab Lawrence Carlisle for example.
As your hand is quite tough to manage with George, therefore I use the cards from seekers to arrange this :
I think 4 arcanes would be too much, so I just put 3 of them. Dream-Enhancing Serum is very effective in the deck, as you get 3x A Glimmer of Hope, 3x A Fortuitous Discovery and 3x Grim Resolve . So you can draw very easily cards.
To start, there are 13 skills and 3 A Glimmer of Hope. 16 cards you can put beneath George. Nearly half of the deck. You deserve it to avoid any problem of size of your hand.
Even if this is not my rule in the team, I put a few cards to be able to fight :
- Occult Lexicon. Useful to draw cards with Blood-Rite and discarding those for which we don't care to discard. As you don't deserve lots of ressources, you can do 2 damage for 2 ressources without any concern.
- Occult Invocation. Again, you discard cards which will be used in the discard pile and you deal damage.
- And Improvised Weapon. This kind of card, as Winging It, are better in your discard pile rather than in your hand !
Idol of Xanatos is here to manage damages and horrors, as there is nothing to heal in this deck.
Lawrence Carlisle is cheaper than Dr. Milan Christopher, and there is already 10 seekers cards in the deck !
Sparrow Mask can help against encounter cards or eventualy monsters to skip.
And the rest to grab clues.
In terms of important improvements :
- Charisma is the first to get. So you can align Lawrence Carlisle and one Laboratory Assistant, or 2 Laboratory Assistants,
- Sharp Vision and Persistence vs Contemplative, Perception or Deduction. Your choice !
- A Glimmer of Hope (2) vs A Glimmer of Hope.
Then in any order or at your discretion :
- Improvised Weapon (2) vs Improvised Weapon,
- Newspaper vs Nautical Charts. I like the 2xp version of Newspaper. And this is cheaper than Nautical Charts,
- Other skils can be introduced in the deck : Gumption, Unexpected Courage or Unrelenting,
- Professor William Webb could be a good choice,
- New cards like Bound for the Horizon or True Awakening,
- True Survivor to get back skills.
Enjoy ! :-)
