Note
This is a starter 0XP deck based on my experience of completing Dunwich with Silas and Norman Withers.
Deckbuilding here pretty straightforward: take all the innate skills and filter them out until the deck limit is met. The first comment on Silas card page helps a lot in understanding how Silas works.
Assets
- Ornate Bow is the primary weapon for this build. Gravedigger's Shovel is here as a placeholder and should be swapped with the Bow.
- Fire Axe helps Silas deal damage in the beginning. Later it becomes a temporary weapon if the Bow is not around. Can be then swapped with an Old Hunting Rifle or Timeworn Brand if you're swimming in XP points.
- Cherished Keepsake helps dealing with a few horror for 0 cost.
- Peter Sylvestre helps dealing with a lot of horror for 3 cost.
Events and Skills
Events here help Silas pass some otherwise unpassable tests and help get something good out of failures.
Skills are the cornerstone of Silas gameplay. Thanks to his ability, skill effects bound to success/failure or other random events can be reused until triggered which makes Silas extremely potent with such skills. The only changes I'd make in hindsight – I'd swap Intrepid and True Understanding for neutral skill cards. It's too hard to trigger those and they just take up valuable deck space.
Defiance is a great fun with Silas: pick the most nasty token and name it. If you're worng, take it back. Rinse, repeat.
Upgrades
- Buy Ornate Bow ASAP. It's a beast and dispatches enemies with ease of you don't forget to reload it.
- Upgrade Peter Sylvestre to (2)
- Upgrade skills when possible
- Swap Fire Axe for Old Hunting Rifle
