This deck is used in a 4-player game of The Path to Carcosa (standard difficulty).

THEME

I tried to build a powerful but thematic deck. Rex Murphy is a reporter, so no Strange Solution, no Archaic Glyphs - doesn't fit the character. He's not a scientist or an archaeologist.

He's a journalist, so he's got a Flashlight, a Magnifying Glass, a notepad to draw some Preposterous Sketches, some Painkillers after all that brain work. He does Fieldwork, enjoy using Shortcut, and doesn't mind Burglary if it means getting closer to the truth. A Fire Axe? Well, he knows some creatures are always lurking.

STRATEGY

This deck works very well once you buy Higher Education.

Always Mulligan if you don't have at least Dr. Milan Christopher or Burglary.

Cards like Preposterous Sketches, Rabbit's Foot, and Search for the Truth will help keeping a hand size of 5+ thus enabling insane bonuses from Higher Education.

The resources needed to fuel this card mainly come from Burglary, but also Emergency Cache and Dr. Milan Christopher.

It then becomes very easy to succeed Investigate tests by 2 or more to trigger Rex's special ability and Deduction. Other cards are a bit of an overkill for investigation (Perception, Magnifying Glass, Flashlight. Gaining 2 to 4 clues in a single action is very common.

This is a multiplayer deck, so Rex is weak combat-wise even though he can often deal 4 damage with "I've got a plan!".
