When Perford asked me, known Agatha fan, to build him a deck for his first Drowned City run, I decided to investigate (heh) a strategy neither of us had tried before and build her for Precision!
While Lucius arguably has the more powerful Precision setup thanks to his amazing signature, Agatha has a combo that can prevent her (otherwise-devastating-for-precision) weakness from ever being drawn. Scroll of Secrets plus Library Pass allows you each round to stack the top 2 cards of your deck as safe draws, return the previous turn's Library-Passed Scroll to your hand for next turn, and if you get lucky potentially discard Glimpse the Void out of the deck entirely (at least until you cycle).
With Glimpse out of the picture, the Ocula Obscura becomes an incredible precision card, allowing perfect knowledge of how much you need to commit to pass your next test by whatever margin you want. Plus, it triggers her ability chargelessly for the rest of the game, allowing you to generate tons of extra actions and card plays!
As far as the actual Precision payoffs, early-campaign you get to enjoy Ocula with Crystal Pendulum–but once you accrue enough xp, you can get the incredible Antikythera and start generating compression all over the place! Meanwhile Dr. Charles West III supports your combat-focused teammate with a little extra damage (and holds your spare Mag Glass).
On the customization side, swapping Eyes for Breath of the Sleeper is an easy combat respec, and Alton O'Connell can replace Dr. Charles West III as your precision assistant if chip damage serves less value in your comp than extra clues would.
I was really hoping to get Dial of Ancients into the deck, it being my preview card and all, but ultimately I found that Precision has a pretty large accessory slot problem, all the more so in Agatha with her signature also taking up one such slot. If you can stomach an extra Relic Hunter, or swap Charlie for Dr. Elli Horowitz (whose tutor you can stack via the Scroll combo to always hit your Antikythera or Dial of Ancients), then the investigate or support Dials would both be fabulous inclusions for triggering Agatha's ability, extra precision support, and also just value in general.
Honestly, I think I'm still figuring out how to make Agatha work–especially her Seeker version feels quite deep and at times a little counterintuitive. But hopefully this deck is fun, unique, and effective in spite of all that, and doesn't leave Perford drowning on the shores of R'lyeh! I'm sure he'll let me know in no uncertain terms if it does.
I love the Stargazing interaction, but have you considered Guidance (1)? With just an action you give +2 actions and +2 to every skill to a fellow investigator. It seemed super duper strong during testing!
