Deck Design
Think "Normal police investigator loses sanity, goes postal".
The deck is mostly designed to bring out lots of allies to take advantage of Mark's ability, which is to trade damage to his assets for card drawing, allowing even more allies to come out. The deck is therefore made up of three primary categories of cards:
- weapons & allies,
- resource multipliers &healing to afford and persist these assets, and
- success buffs, by way of events and skills.
Some cards span two of these categories;
- Medical Student - heal and then soak, two jobs in one card
- Calling in Favors - erases damage by pulling an ally back to hand while drawing another
- "I've had worse…" - soak damage and also give resources
- Sweeping Kick - attack, then evade for safety
There's not much to setting up the deck: just get a weapon out and start fighting. I've opted not to use Prepared for the Worst since, as soon as Mark and his assets start getting damaged, the weapons ought to fall out of the deck quickly enough.
