In the last episode Jenny failed The Night of Zealot. This time she'll attempt to tackle the Dunwich series of scenarios. The starting deck is the exact same as earlier.
The House Always Wins: R2. Jenny managed to rescue Dr. Morgan. Curiously, she ended the scenario with herself at two health and Dr. Morgan at one health, but with zero horror. At one point she had to contend with Clover Club Pit Boss, O'Bannion's Thug and Stubborn Detective at the same time. Jenny wanted slay the Servant of the Lurker, but another vile abomination spawned on top of it and then it definitely was time to bail. Fortunately, the Searching for Izzie was drawn just before the starting location ceased to exist, so the problem solved itself. In summary, it was an easy scenario for Jenny, who had money to gamble with and friends to swap for clues. (That being said, discarding Leo De Luca at the Clover Club Lounge was likely a misplay.)
Extracurricular Activity: R3. Jenny defeated the boss and with style! She threw Alchemical Concoction at it, coupled with Double or Nothing. 14 damage in one attack is Jenny's new personal record and she's even more proud of it because that the very same turn she had dispatched Wizard of Yog-Sothoth, who spawned on her just moments earlier. All that was possible because "Jazz" Mulligan appeared on his own without Jenny needing to spend time to gather and use clues to discard encounters. Jenny thus had ample time to go to the labs for the concotion and search the dormitories. All in all, Jenny knew when to push her luck. On the downside Professor Warren was nowhere to be found.
The Miskatonic Museum: R1. Jenny kicked in the door and explored the Museum, finding no enemies save for indistinct shadows. The scenario went smoothly in the beginning, perhaps due to the fact that Jenny attempted it alone and thus Hunting Horror didn't appear as often as it could. Major obstacles appeared near then end, when Jenny drew Beyond the Veil with 3 cards left in her deck and much less than 10 health to spare. At the time she was engaged with Hunting Horror and far from the Restricted Hall. Jenny evaded the shadow monster and run to the last location. Suddenly, Locked Door! Perhaps that Door intended to take revenge for its colleague from the beginning? Nevertheless, luck was once again on Jenny's side and she managed to get the The Necronomicon and promptly destroyed it.
The Essex County Express: R1. Jenny made her way to the Engine Car, saved the conductor and together with him managed to get the engine running. Two cars worth of passengers was saved in spite of the interference from the Stubborn Detective whose relentless pestering made Jenny lose valuable time. This man had to be willfully blind not to see the weight of the situation. As for Izzie, Jenny felt an urge to go back to the last car, but soon after that very car was sucked into the spatial rift. Jenny reasoned that her sister couldn't had been there, since she herself searched that car earlier and the route she took to the Engine Car was by necessity straightforward. Except that one time Jenny climbed on the roof to get the jump on an Emergent Monstrosity.
Blood on the Altar: R1. Bloodbath. There is no more apt word to describe Jenny's visit in the village. Enemies of all sorts, from mobsters and misguided detectives to whippoorwills and nightgaunts did their best to slow Jenny's search. She almost immediatelly found the entrance to the The Hidden Chamber in the sacristy of the local church and then outright forced the Stubborn Detective to sift through the debris at the Burned Ruins. At knife-point. Since it was the only weapon Jenny had with her at the time. Silas Bishop fell to the same knife. Tragically, Jenny, even for all her long runs in the morning and endurance training was out of breath and too slow to save Professor Warren Rice. Others were saved, but this was little consolation for Jenny whose choice lead to the professor being kidnapped in the first place. >Blip< >Blippety-Blip< you, Detective! It was your fault!
Undimensioned and Unseen: R1. Jenny absolutely and categorically insisted on getting things done fast. She rustled the villagers and had them evacuate, while she, Leo De Luca and Zebulon Whateley scoured the countryside. Dr. Armitage's Powder of Ibn Ghazi proved most useful, but there wasn't enough of it so Jenny and her allies had to rely on their cunning to mark the beasts. They've employed dogs and lured the monstrosities to patches of loose sand, mud and tangled undergrowth. Four broods were dispatched, but Jenny had the nastiest feeling that at least one more was unaccounted for. (The Creatures' Tracks was not drawn, so the fifth Brood of Yog-Sothoth hadn't spawn at all.) Oh, and of course another Stubborn Detective found his way into the whole situation.
(Since there are no new scenarios the campaign is put on hiatus. I'll won't spend my XPs just yet. Perhaps there'll be more interesting cards in the future sets. In the meantime, lets hope that 1 escaped brood, no Necronomicon and killed Silas won't affect the last two adventures too severely.)

Jun 10, 2017Not yet, I'll have to wait for it. In the meantime I'll do an alternative play with less combat focused build. |
Jun 10, 2017I really like this build, I think Jenny can be pretty incredible at whatever you build her for (maybe not spells). My build is Seeker oriented, using some mixture of Shortcut, Art Student, Deduction and Working a Hunch to patch the holes Rogue runs into. I think where this build focuses those cards into combat, you likely just get more attempts at Investigations to find the clues you need, correct? |
Jun 10, 2017Shortcut and Seeker cards in general are excellent, but Jenny can always rely on her Streetwise if there's an investigation to be tackled. Granted, it's an expensive investment, but Jenny rolls in resources, especially if you add Lone Wolf or Burglary. |
Have you picked up the new pack?
