Intro into Tommy and his love for Becky

"Beautiful guns, all over the world, I could be chasing but my time would be wasted. They got nothing on you, Becky. Nothing on you, Becky"

Hi everyone and welcome to this deck guide on Tommy Muldoon. Tommy loves Becky, and she deserves the love and attention to make her the best girl she can be. No fussing about with magical hammers or flamethrowers, Becky is the only one for Tommy!

The general idea of this deck is to find Becky, improve her viability with some upgrades, and provide some nice soak options to help fuel her with more bullets.

Level 0 deck The level 0 deck is pretty standard,

Damage ***:

Alternative weapons are provided in the .45 Thompsons. Additionally, Act of Desperation and Toe to Toe provide some extra 2 damage attacks to conserve your bullets.

As an alternative to the .45 Thompson, you could play .45 Automatic instead, since they are a bit less awkward to play in turn 1 due to being only 4 cost. They do have a smaller boost and 1 less bullet though, so up to personal preference.

Soak ***:

The deck contains some cheap soak options, and ways of putting damage on them in Solemn Vow and Toe to Toe. Due to Tommy's ability, the soak provides both protection and recources, or, once Becky is in play, extra bullets.

Tutoring and card draw (finding Becky) **:

Tetsuo Mori and Prepared for the Worst are there to help find a gun (preferably Becky). Card draw is provided through Glory, Daring and Take Heart.

Resources ***:

Economy is provided with Take Heart and later on Act of Desperation, on top of being an extra bullet on your .45 Thompson, nets the resources for the gun back; 6 resources should be plenty to play Becky and replay some soak. On top of the above, killing soak provides resources from Tommy's ability. Just be careful you don't make a Rookie Mistake.

Clues*:

Tommy may help get some clues with "Look what I found!" and Scene of the Crime.

Upgrade path

  1. Stick to the Plan, Ever Vigilant. At this point, stick an Act of Desperation, Ever Vigilant and Prepared for the Worst on it.
  2. Combat Training / Beat Cop up to personal preference which you take now and which you take later. Beat Cop is less XP, costs 1 more resource than Guard Dog, but provides a static buff and can provide damage + provide quick cash by killing himself with his ability. Combat Training is 0-cost soak that can replace Leather Coat; it has the benefit of potentially also soaking 1 horror (so could net up to 4 resources or 4 bullets for a 0-cost card), being fast (so no action to play/replay), providing both and buffs and the option of boosting those stats even further if needed. Downside is it's not an Item, so Tetsuo and Backpack can't find it for you.
  3. Becky buffs: 1x Custom Ammunition to put on Stick to the Plan alongside Ever Vigilant and Prepared for the Worst, 2x Enchant Weapon. Now Becky becomes a true killing machine, with attacks at 10 (assuming buff in play) for up to 4 damage in 1 hit (Enchant Weapon and Custom Ammunition on a monster enemy).
  4. Beat Cop / Combat Training, whichever one you didnt't pick earlier

Some further upgrade options include:

-The Star that boosts all your soak and provides even more resources or Becky bullets for you.

-Reliable for even more boosted attacks on Becky, Telescopic Sight to snipe nasty cultists and annoying birds with Becky (Marksmanship is a one-time event version of this), Well-Maintained to not lose Becky or use your upgrades on a Thompson before finding Becky

-Well Prepared to use Becky's or Combat Training's to your advantage.

-Unrelenting for extra card draw

-Stand Together for a guaranteed 2 cards and 2 recources for you and a friend

-Vicious Blow is always nice, combined with Enchant Weapon and Custom Ammunition this can result in a 6-damage attack with Becky.

-Backpack to help you search for your weapons and soak. This card also has some synergy with Tetsuo Mori, who can fish it out of the discard for you so you can search 12 deep for your reshuffled soak and other weapons again, and with Ever Vigilant for a big starting turn.

-Hallowed Mirror. Sometimes your soak dies and you still take damage. You also may not draw your elder sign at the right moment. This card adds 3 soothing melodies to your deck to heal and draw a card. They even stay in play if you put Cherished Keepsake and discard the Hallowed Mirror, though you would lose the extra point of heal or the reshuffle effect.

-Dynamite Blast to kill a big ball of enemies quickly. Tommy can even pull of using it on his own location, getting bucks or bullets in the process.

Wrap up

Hope you found this deck guide useful and you share the love for Becky the greatest gun in the game! Please feel free to share your Tommy experiences (in general or with this or a similar deck) or your thoughts and feedback on the deck.

I appreciate how thematic this deck is. The focus on upgrading Becky into a superweapon is brilliant. I also noticed that much of the deck fits the cop aesthetic as well as being effective card choices. I might have to try out this deck instead of Daniela in an upcoming Edge of the Earth playthrough. Any specific recommendations for Tommy in EotE?

Thanks for your comment, glad you like the deck! Tommy is a great soak for Edge of the Earth. Damage output is important there, so I would consider some vicious blows, maybe a singleton dynamite blast. My Edge deck also included more weapons plus a bandolier (I mean Becky should not get jealous): arkhamdb.com Hope this helps. Feel free to let me know how it works out for you! How much you can specialise into soak and damage depends on the team composition of course. If more clue gathering is needed from you, there's also Grete Wagner as an option for a combat boost ally.
