Introduction

...Seems like it has become a series now...

This is the 3rd deck of my Ornate Bow Wendy deck series. It's a deck that focuses on dealing with enemies using Ornate Bow while still being able to gather clues efficiently. The other 2 versions were also using The Skeleton Key, but this time we 're dropping it in favor of some juicy new cards that I want to use and that makes us take a slightly different direction, which is to focus more on enemy handling and less at collecting clues, so the deck should be paired with a more cluey investigator like Finn Edwards, Preston Fairmont or Luke Robinson maybe?...

Anyway, the deck also drops the search engine it was using with Rabbit's Foot (3), Try and Try Again/Grisly Totem (3) and Double or Nothing, as there isn't any card in the deck that we terribly want to find, but still has the Drawing Thin + Rabbit's Foot combo which works about the same way (though you search fewer cards), which is solid and will let us find all the key pieces of the deck early, while still providing card draw for mid-late game, which will let us draw a large portion of our deck, giving us more consistency and making cards like Miss Doyle and Easy Mark more solid.

What's interesting about this deck is that we 're using the Crystallizer of Dreams. We have 8 cards with double icons: "Look what I found!", Intel Report, Narrow Escape and Swift Reflexes. Easy Mark's single icons are also nice. These cards, after played, can be used to boost either our , or our , giving us the ability to get more clues or evade/shoot something with more ease. The Guardian of the Crystallizer should also not be of great concern, as he's gone with just one shot from the Bow.

General Stuff

Enemies

The Bow will do most of the hard work with enemies. Cards that are associated with the bow are Leo De Luca (extra actions, because you will need them), Track Shoes (+1 ), Narrow Escape (to avoid the AoO when reloading), Double or Nothing (for big-health enemies) and Swift Reflexes (for more actions when neccessary). Swift Reflexes takes the place of Quick Thinking in the old deck because of its synergy with the Crystallizer. You can still evade things, but your main goal will be to kill enemies with the Bow.

Clues

For clues you will do most of the hard work using specific cards, namely "Look what I found!" and Intel Report. As said above, after these cards get used, they will be attached to Crystallizer of Dreams and provide double icons, which will allow you to get more clues. Our single copy of Winging It can also get us multiple clues, especially when paired with one of those cards that were attached to the Crystallizer (enter Double or Nothing here). To lesser extend, Miss Doyle and Wendy's Amulet can also help.

Draw and resource Engine

Your drawing and resource engine consists of Drawing Thin, Rabbit's Foot and Take Heart. When these cards are combined together you can draw a lot of cards and get plenty of resources. With Track Shoes it can also be actionless. Easy Mark also helps both with resources and with card draw (especially if you have more than one copy in your hand) and it is one of the reasons I prefered it over something like Pay Day.

Miss Doyle

Miss Doyle is our guest of honour in this deck. The 3 cats are nice to have and the high card draw we can generate makes it highly likely that we will see her (almost) every game. Of the 3 cats, we actually need 2 though: Zeal and Augur. Hope isn't bad but his effect isn't terribly useful for Wendy Adams, so we will usually be playing with the other 2. Augur provides great value in this deck. We do have trouble investigating, so an investigate action at 5 base once a turn is very valuable and her ability to self-discard for an auto-clue is also nice. Zeal is situational, but she can also provide great value. Every bow deck has this single problem: What do I do with 1-or-4 health enemies? They are very annoying. The problem is that we need a reliable way to deal 1 damage. That's what Zeal does. And she does it very well. Note here that both the bow and Zeal can be boosted by Scrapper and with your high resource generation you can always count on it.

Wendy's Amulet

We do have 2 Relic Hunters in the deck, so this asset deserves some special mention. Having all 3 accessories in play at the same time isn't of great value, but it's helpful. The important thing is to have both Rabbit's Foot and Wendy's Amulet in play at the same time. With Wendy's Amulet, you can play your clueing events multiple times and with Rabbit's Foot you can shuffle them after they get bottomdecked, so that you find them again and replay them and considering that you rely mostly on your clueing events for clue gathering, that can be very valuable. Your other events are still good to play with the Amulet, but your clueing events are the most important. Unfortunately, Wendy's Amulet doesn't synergize with the Crystallizer because you can't attach your played events to it, but with the 2 Relic Hunters you can keep the Crystallizer of Dreams in play when you play the Amulet so that you don't discard the attached events.

Taboo List

You can actually play this deck with the Taboo List. The core XP cards require a total of 20 XP, so you can remove Scrapper and the second Relic Hunter and downgrade Leo De Luca to get back 8 XP and add 9 XP for 2x Drawing Thin and 1x Double or Nothing. This deck is absolutely playable both ways.
