Unrelenting

"Ok, I'm going investigate this 2 shroud location. I'm at 2 int, but don't worry guys, I'm actually looking to purposely fail so that I can play my "Look what I found!" for twice as many clues as I would get from just investigating normally. And you know what? I'll commit a Take Heart for good measure. After all, more than 80% of the tokens in the bag have negative modifiers; we've drawn like, 3 -4's in the last few tests. I'm basically guara...

...aaaaaaand I drew a +1. Goddammit!!!1!"

Has this situation ever happened to you? Well boy do I have the product for you!

O yea, that's even more reason to love this. — Zerogrim · 296
It does give you a plus one to the test, so 2 to 2 is still one up with it. Weird situation where a card would be better in some scenarios without a wild icon. — SSW · 217
Shout out to Crystalline Elder Sign for sealing the dreaded +1 — StyxTBeuford · 13052
I've also seen it happen in a party with Stella and Mary that Stella is doing like a 4 Vs 7 test she wants to fail, and draws like bless bless -1 — NarkasisBroon · 11
I think there could be an interesting failure-heavy deck that takes advantage of this to seal good tokens, and SoH to add more bad tokens (Favor of the Moon could help make sure that you draw them). Could be interesting with OYO, as SoH can let you heal up damage and horror that you can no longer soak on allies. — Zinjanthropus · 231
You could use it to seal the special tokens that have terrible effects if you fail when deliberately failing. — suika · 9508
Eldritch Inspiration

Just a question, as I don't see it in any other review, in a Jacqueline Fine or Jim Culver deck that focuses on playing with the token bag, can it be used on Voice of Ra, paired with Dark Prophecy for unlimited cash??

Valentin1331 · 80722
No, "for each" is not "when", "if", or "after". Also means the levelled curse spells no longer work with the levelled Eldritch Inspiration, sadly. — SSW · 217
SSW I'm not sure that answers the question since this is the downgraded version so it doesn't have any of those statements. — jdk5143 · 98
You play Voice of Ra to get 1 resource, then reveal 3 more tokens, gaining an extra 2 resources per token revealed. Dark Prophecy lets you replace 1 of those pulls with pull 5, chose 1, greatly increasing the likelihood of seeing a special token. Eldritch Inspiration then, assuming you pulled a token, lets you get an extra 2 resources. So for 3 cards and a resource, you've gained at least 5, as many as 9, resources. Not unlimited, but kinda like triple playing an emergency cache. — zrayak · 87
As already mentioned above, Eldritch Inspitation has no interaction whatsoever with eiter Dark Prophecy or Voice of Ra. — Adny · 1
You're right. I just noticed that this version was erratad to include the upgraded version's "if, when, or after" statement. Voice of Ra's "for each" is not included. — zrayak · 87
Thanks indeed I overlooked the errata, makes more sense now :) — Valentin1331 · 80722
Mind over Matter

Take note: unlike the level-0 version, you will still be making / tests -- this means that you can only commit // icons to the tests. With the effect of Mind over Matter (0), on the other hand, you turn those into tests (and so can only commit / icons).

anaphysik · 98
Also important to note: committing cards from hand requires the appropriate skill icon, but using a talent asset does not! So Higher Education could still be used to boost tests here. — MiskatonicFrosh · 344
Another note: since Mind over Matter (0) changes the type of skill test, you need to play it before the test begins to get the benefit. However, this card simply adds a modifier, so you can play it mid-skill test to boost it. — D1splaced · 1
Hemispheric Map

I just want to highlight our good friend Luke, who has the following things going for him to make this work: 1) A secret box that brings him to places connected to every open location about three times a scenario, and 2) a pretty much uncontested accessory slot. So yeah, this card is about better than average with him.

supertoasty · 40
With Edge of the Earth, Luke with Relic Hunter can equip two of these, jump into his secret pocket dimension and use his telescope to get clues from anywhere. — joguitarist · 1
Spirit of Humanity

An interesting pick for a blessed/cursed Carolyn Fern. Letting her take damage/horror when she has none to heal and helping her to heal when she does. Also I can see Father Mateo+Paradoxical Covenant being insane, basically adding 2 bless and 2 curse tokens every 2 rounds (taking damage then healing it).

jonklin · 515
For the purposes of Paradoxical Covenant, this because an expensive reusable Tempt Gate. — suika · 9508
Father Mateo can also profit from drawing both Bless and Curse tokens with Eye of the Djinn — Zinjanthropus · 231
Was thinking of running the covenant, eye of Djinn, with both favor of the sun/moon to ensure I gain an additional action for 3 turns while being able to use the Eye at least twice per round. — gmmster2345 · 2
